Marijuana, Heroin And Other Street Drugs

Though some street drug crimes are misdemeanors, many are felonies and can have a lasting impact on your life. If you have been charged with a criminal offense related to a street drug, get aggressive legal representation as soon as possible.

I have more than 20 years of experience as an investigator, prosecutor and criminal defense attorney. I use this unique insight when constructing a defense to the drug crimes charges you are facing.

Additional Types Of Charges

In many cases, police officers will file additional charges on top of the initial drug-related charge if the situation warrants.

For example, if an officer stops your vehicle and searches it, finds drugs and also recovers a gun or other weapon, you may be facing weapons charges. It is especially important in these types of cases to enlist the help of an attorney. Using my experience, I can often have additional charges minimized or dismissed by calling into question the validity of the search, traffic stop or other police procedures that were used in recovering the drugs from your possession.

Exercise Your Rights

If you are arrested for a street drug crime, it is important that you know your rights and exercise them. While the police may be trying to get you to talk, say nothing. You have the right to remain silent — use it. It may seem as though the officers are being sympathetic and helpful, but they will take every opportunity to use your words against you if it means securing a conviction.

You also have the right to an attorney — use it. The only words you should speak to the police are “I want a lawyer.” Once you have said this, get in touch with me and I can take things from there.
